Paranormal Research Investigating team members:

             Karmen                                          Jerry                                                 Francesca                                                   Chris

The Uninvited Team were called in by Mistley residents, Mr & Mrs Hood, to investigate alleged paranormal phenomena occurring in their house.   On the 22nd April 2005 we booked ourselves into the Thorn Inn at Manningtree, Essex, UK.
Manningtree

Claiming the title of England's smallest town, Manningtree lies on the southern bank of the river Stour, some ten miles north east of Colchester.  Together with the neighbouring village of Mistley, both have their own rich history and architectural beauty. Their main claim to fame comes from their association with Matthew Hopkins, the 17th Century Witchfinder General the man who claimed to hold the Devil's own list of all the witches in England.

Scene 1. The team interviewed Cheryl, the proprieter of the Thorn Inn on  22nd April 2005.

(Karmen did not enter the Thorn Inn prior to or during the interview with the proprieter; as this would have flawed the research being conducted as part of the paranormal research investigation).

As the Team interviewed Cheryl, she reported several accounts of paranormal activity taking place at the Thorn Inn.

Cherly continued  “It is reported on this site Matthew Hopkins did his witch trials.  There have been several paranormal experiences myself and the staff have witnessed.  A wine glass stored on the shelf behind the bar lifts up and flys across the room and hits the table.  A coffee cup from behind the bar flys across the room and hits a chair”.

Scene 2.  The Cellar The Thorn Inn, Manningtree 22nd April 2005.

Team members, Christine, Jerry, Francesca and Karmen decided to conduct the paranormal investigation further.  Karmen felt drawn towards the cellar which is the original part of the building. As Karmen descended the stairs to the cellar, using her clairvoyant, clairaudience and clairsentience gifts, she smelt a terrible stench; and identified an active earthbound spirit, she felt the presence of an angry, sinister woman residing in the cellar.

Karmen further states  “she does not want me to enter the cellar.”  Karmen described the spirit as wearing a long grey dress, the face has chiseled features with a sharp pointed nose, hair tied back at the nape, carrying sharp instruments. The spirit is connected to and worked with Matthew Hopkins; Karmen visualizes the spirit puncturing people and linking the woman with murder. Karmen identifies the names’  Mary and two wisewomen Margaret and Ann.

The team felt overwhelming negativity in the atmosphere of the cellar.  Karmen begins to pick up the foul stench stronger and starts to heave; and reports the earthbound spirit is trying to  psychically attack her. Karmen sees two beacons, one based at Mistley and one at Manningtree. They feed of each other. The spirit is a shape shifter.

Francesca conducted extensive research pertaining to the investigation.  Could this be Mary  "Goody" Phillips?  The "Witch Pricker" Described as being a sharp-featured woman whose speciality was finding witch marks on the bodies of those accused?

Furthermore, Francesca’s research addressed the description of the off-white shape shifter.

(Refer to the following research reference).
Dog - cross wolf-dog - shape shifter - There have been several sightings of a white dog over the years http://www.shuckland.co.uk/mistley.htm_(http://www.shuckland.co.uk/mistley.htm)

Further investigations took place in the cellar, Karmen communicated with three other wisewomen who had been at the mercy of Matthew Hopkins; they told Karmen of their stories, of why they had returned to Manningtree, in order to rescue their beloved familiars, their cats; Karmen visualized the presence of the terrified cats being trapped by the earthbound spirit, the shapeshifter; Karmen continued to communicate with the wisewomen, the team started to feel nausea, the atmosphere was charged with a thick negative energy, the team felt they were being watched by the earthbound spirit. Suddenly the atmosphere was like an ice-cold waterfall.

Francesca felt a freezing cold chill on the back of her neck as though someone had blown on it.  Christine felt as though she was being penned in and began to suffer a thumping headache.   Jerry suggested it was time, we all leave the cellar; to protect ourselves from psychic attack.

Scene 3. Upper Floor – Restaurant, the Thorn Inn. 22nd April 2005.

Karmen then described the presence of an older lady, with pointed features & high cheek bones, wearing a shawl covering her head.  She did so many good works for the community. Karmen linked the property with the abode next door to the Hoods residence.  Karmen picked up the names Sarah & Jayne.  Karmen visualized a cat walking through the wall to the property next door.  The cat is linked to the elderly lady.

Scene 5. The Attic. Mr & Mrs Hoods Residence.

As the team ascended the stairs to the attic, it was noted by all present that a common theme was starting to develop; Karmen sensed the presence of the elderly lady in the atmosphere; as Karmen linked into the world of spirit; she connected to the elderly lady and visualized she was a wise woman, a midwife, healer and herbalist linked with the name Garrett/Gareth.  Karmen felt a cat brush pass her ankles, the cat belongs to the wise lady; Karmen could see the spirit of the wisewoman and the cat walking through the wall to the property next door.

Mr & Mrs Hood reactions were “Sarah & Jayne work next door; Jayne is the restaurant owner and Sarah the waitress. The staff in the restaurant have seen a cat that walks through the wall into our home”.

Mr & Mrs Hood agreed with the team that there was a young mischievous spirit who liked to move things around their home.

We left the Hoods in the knowledge the spirits were non-malevolent.
